Ghana is shifting its economic strategy from stabilisation to growth as it continues to consolidate gains in macroeconomic recovery, the Minister for Finance has said.

The Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, made the remarks after a meeting with Ousmane Diagana, Regional Vice President of the World Bank for Western and Central Africa, and his team on the sidelines of the IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.

In a Facebook post, Ato Forson stated that Ghana’s economy has stabilised and is now firmly on the path to debt sustainability, adding that government’s next phase of focus is geared towards driving inclusive growth.

During the meeting, both parties agreed to deepen cooperation in four key priority areas, including commercial agriculture, agro-industrial development and job creation; energy, particularly gas-to-power and gas-to-fertiliser initiatives; education and human capital development; and infrastructure to improve the movement of goods across the country.

Dr Forson reaffirmed government’s commitment to disciplined fiscal management while ensuring the protection of vulnerable groups within society.

He welcomed continued support from the World Bank, expressing optimism that strengthened collaboration will help consolidate Ghana’s recovery and accelerate sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
