World Cup 2026: JAC Motors reward Caleb Yirenkyi with MVP award after match-winning performance

The official vehicle partner of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), JAC Motors, has rewarded Black Stars midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi following his Man of the Match performance in the opening game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Yirenkyi scored the only goal of the game as the Black Stars defeated Panama to pick up their first win of the tournament. While the goal was the icing on the cake, his performance on the day saw him crowned Ghana's best player on the day, picking the first of many MVP awards to be given out by JAC Motors.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been a revelation for the Black Stars, and his performance against Panama was a testament to his growing influence. His goal, coming in the 95th minute, secured a vital three points for Ghana and set the tone for their World Cup campaign.

The JAC Motors MVP award is part of a broader partnership between the GFA and the automobile brand, which will see champions and top performers in Ghanaian football receive rewards. This initiative aims to incentivise excellence and support the development of the game in Ghana.

For Yirenkyi, the award is a just reward for a performance that will be remembered for years to come. His goal and all-round display have already made him a fan favourite and a key figure in Carlos Queiroz's squad.

The Black Stars have gone on to hold England to 0-0 in their second game and are hoping to record another positive result in their final group game against Croatia slated for June 27.
